Business English Teacher

Private Business English Language Tutor Sydney
for employees that speak English as a Second Language

Is the English of your employees losing you money?

In Sydney, excellent English is the most important thing for your staff to have to help build trust in your business.

A simple search on the net will find complaints from thousands of customers about the poor English of phone support staff for businesses in Sydney alone. For every complaint there are about 10 that don't complain.

So, if you get one complaint about the English of your staff, you know that at least 10 have not said anything.

Everyone in your business has been either interviewed by you or by someone you trust so you know your staff have got to be good to be there. But you also know that their spoken and written business English could be better and increase their productivity.

You also know that you have to do something about it or you're eventually going to have to 'let them go'

Rather than spend thousands of dollars on training new staff, why not spend hundreds of dollars on some English lessons for the staff member you already have?

John O'Loughlin is here to help you improve the productivity of your English as a Second Language Employees.

  • and much more!
  • John knows that there are some basic things about someone's English ability that can be fixed quickly. As a business manager you know that 20% of the work gets 80% of the results. Get John to help you get those results!

    Did you know?

    • People from Beijing have different English pronunciation problems to people from Shanghai
    • Some Indians believe that it is more cultured NOT to stick their tongue out, thereby removing every 'th' sound from the conversation
    • The hardest sounds for Japanese are the L & R sounds because they actually exist as a combined sound in Japanese language.
    • People from Vietnam, Brazil, Spain, Indonesia and many other places believe the last sound of a lot of words should be almost silent - that includes 's' and 'ed' !
    Example 1
Rose has been working at her Accounting firm for 5 years. She is the best employee there. Hard working, conscientious, great personality and attention to detail. She deserves a promotion. Unfortunately she has been passed over 3 times because her English just isn't good enough to deal with clients directly. She really wants to get that promotion and is willing to work hard on improving her English to get it. After just 5 lessons with Adult English School she has an understanding of what problems she has and where she needs to improve. She realises it'll take her 6 months of intensive study to get her level up to a point where she can be in the running for a promotion. She either chooses to do a night course, study by herself or take on more private lessons with Adult Language School. Whatever she chooses, it means progress.

    Example 2
Lee is a hardworking IT employee. He programs, enters data, keeps servers on track and is basically a godsend to the people around him. He is very quick at solving problems and his English seems to be excellent as his written reports are near perfect. But no one can understand him on the phone. It's not just the IT language he uses to help someone solve a problem. He has no idea that his pronunciation is affecting his communication skills. He's been passed over for the supervisor position twice. After 5 lessons with John, Lee realises his pronunciation is wrong for Australian conditions and begins practicing what he has learnt at home. Slowing his speech down, concentrating more on 'th' sounds, softening 'r' sounds and choosing more conversational vocabulary. He stops asking about promotions as he knows he has to fix this problem first. After a few months of practice people stop complaining about Lee on the phone. This is very pleasing to Lee as the whole episode has been making him a bit depressed. Perhaps he'll get that promotion now!

Why choose John's business tutoring service?

Your employee should have a minimum of 10 one hour lessons to show results. You can use these results to decide whether they get the promotion they deserve, or whether they should be moved to a different department or whether you need to let them go.

During the first lesson an analysis of their ability is performed. John will create a report for you indicating what needs to be improved and what else needs to be worked on.

After the 5th lesson John will produce a report for you outlining their progress and what will be done in future lessons.

After the 10th lesson John will produce a report outlining their progress and giving recommendations for their future.

If your employee progresses quickly then 10 lessons may be enough. If your employee progresses slowly then John will advise you after the 5th lesson whether 10 will be enough or whether it may be better for other action to be taken, such as a full time course elsewhere or other relevant training.

    In summary:
    1. Report and analysis after the first lesson
    2. Progress report after the 5th lesson
    3. Final report after the 10th lesson with further recommendations
